IN THE TRAIL OF MALARIA DEATH AND DEVASTATION


'TRIPURA YUKTIBAD BIKASH MANCHA' traverses along difficult terrains of gandacherra. plight of tribal people in the inaccessible hamlets and untold stories experienced by five member delegation of the organisation. Ivestigation team visited remote & inaccessible villages of kalyansingh ADC village namely GIRACHARAN PARA, WANASA PARA & KRISHNACHANDRA PARA. malaria outbreak manifestation were evident as early as middle of may but health administration woke up after 10th june when already 9 people were dead. The plight of tripuris in the far flung villages were evident from the malnourished, pale looking, half clad, impoverist jhumias. Deserted infant in the bamboo make 'tong ghar's', who's parents were struggling in the jhums, harvesting for 3 manth's food, told all untold stories to the visitors. That reminded WHO slogan 'MALARIA IS A DISEASE OF POVERTY'. Total lack of disease prevention activities like DDT spraying in advance, providing insecticide impregnated mosquito nets, blood sample collection in advance was not carried out before the death toll had mountain. Delegates of TYBM taken the blood sample of some villagers for malaria test.
